                          What is a CSA?

A traditional community supported agriculture (CSA) model is an arrangement between the farmer and customer that provides cash in advance to the farmer during the planting season when there is no cash flow to operate the farm. The farmer uses the proceeds to pay for seasonal expenses such as seed, fertilizer, rent and labor. In return for their support, CSA members are given weekly boxes of produce or other farm products produced by the farm throughout the growing season.

High Point Farms,LLC puts a new twist on the traditional CSA model. We at High Point call it a “Buyers Choice Meat CSA”. Our web-based Meat CSA is completely flexible which allows members to customize their order in terms of what they want, when they want. Members pay for a “share” up front then order from our web store before deliveries. There is NO obligation to order each delivery.  And because we partner with other farms, our product mix is diversified.  With our main product being frozen local meat and most of our members living in the NYC region with, usually, small freezer space, we offer BI-WEEKLY deliveries.

A CSA model is useful for small sustainable farms like ours. It eliminates our farm’s reliance on bank lending and wholesale sales. It is also more enjoyable for us to deal directly with appreciative customers.

High Point Farms uses your money to buy hay, pay our small family owned USDA butcher for meat processing, pasture rent, utility bills for running our farm freezers, or to buy products from other farms.

Order only what you want!!! Use your credit  during the distribution period to purchase local humanely raised meats and other local products (cheese, honey….) from our online farm store.

We will deliver to your scheduled drop location every other week (on Wednesday) Some exceptions around July 4th

Are your prices cheaper than a farmers market or whole foods?

In many cases yes, High Point Farms is cheaper. You are also being assured you are receiving high quality products directly from LOCAL farms; as well as building a direct farm to consumer relationship.

What happens if I don’t spend all my credit this season?

Our policy allows members to roll over up to 20% of their remaining credit into the next season. Remember, it is frozen meat; it will keep in your freezer for up to a year!  Stock up!

                          Can I Cancel My Membership?

Sorry, No!  As a small sustainable farm we are not able to give refunds or do cancellations.  We suggest using up your credits or finding a friend to take over for you if for some reason you need to cancel. (ie: moving…)

Is there a minimum bi- weekly order?

You are not required to order every other week. When you do order, there is a $25 minimum.

What happens when I use up all my credits?

You can always add more credits to your account throughout the season. Once you log in to your account, you'll see an option to add more credits under your account settings.

What happens if I place an order and then become unable to pick it up during the distribution time?

You will still be charged for your order.  It is your responsibility to pick it up or send a friend to pick it up for you. Otherwise, we reserve the right to donate your order.  Please keep in mind that our Core Members who oversee distribution and our host sites (Restaurants, Bars, Churches, Gyms, and Offices) are NOT employees of the farm! They are NOT being paid to do this. We ask that you respect them and show up to distributions on time or send a friend and not to ask for special favors. It is NOT their job to call and tell you that you are late for pick up.

How do our orders get to the distribution site? Is there a delivery fee?

We use a local distributor 8 miles from our farm to get your shares to you in the NYC area.  This saves us time and fossil fuels.

Some things happen that are out of our control with the delivery of your shares. We do our part to get it to the disturber on time, but things happen! Traffic issues or weather may cause shares to be delivered late. We HIGHLY recommend you check your e-mail and follow us on Face book or Twitter. We will get the word out as soon as we know if there is a problem with the delivery. We will then do our best to make sure you can pick up your share on time! If the delivery doesn’t make it on that given day we will notify you when you can pick up your share. Weather, traffic and delivery issues are out of our control!

                          E-mail Reminders
Once you sign up for our CSA is complete you will receive a conformation e-mail.
We are using Farmigo as our CSA sign up program.  Farmigo uses Google mail. We want you to be aware that for some reason your e-mail  CAN go into your JUNK mail folder!

                          Please check  JUNK folder often!

As a CSA member you will receive e-mail reminders as to when to order from the farm store, when to pick up your CSA share, and notifications of any delivery problems. You will also receive farm news and updates.
It is your responsibility to open and read these e-mails.

Are the products on your website all you’ll offer this year?

No. We are always looking for new, local, high quality products to improve our selection. That said, we are also NOT a factory farm! We only process one or two animals at a time. There are only 20 NY strip steaks in a cow and 15-18 pounds of bacon in a pig. Some items may go out of stock for short period of time, but we will do our best to keep a mix of products on hand for purchase.
CSA sales are our first priority over wholesale or even on-site farm sales.
You, our CSA members, are what keep our sustainable farm in operation!
